Johnny Cash | Hurt
on Saturday!
I’m so excited! I’ve wanted one for ages. A lot of my family members are pretty musically inclined. My dad and a cousin of mine both taught themselves how to play the guitar. I’ve always wanted to learn how to play myself, but god forbid, it wasn’t meant to be. I tried my hardest… I really did. I just couldn’t get myself to properly finger the right chords or strum the proper rhythm. It’s not like I have abnormal sized hands/fingers or anything. I’d say that they’re probably larger than normal, if anything. Shouldn’t that be an asset to guitar playing? Apparently not.
I’ve always liked ukuleles though. Maybe it was the novelty aspect of it all. They’re just so darn cute. I just hope that all my years struggling to play the guitar haven’t been in vain. Who knows, maybe I’m some uke playing genius!
Either way, I literally cannot wait any longer. Just a warning though: once I get the proper hang of it all and actually teach myself to play a few tunes… be prepared for a video onslaught.
(this post was riddled with accidental sexual innuendos)
It takes a lot of guts to post something up on Youtube.
There’s the fact that videos are only accessible to about… the entire planet. And yes, people are indeed harsh and rude and absolutely everything in between.
But that hasn’t stopped Rebecca Viegas from showing us, and rest of the world, her undeniable talent.
I’ve known Becky, as she likes being called, pretty much since Grade 9. We’ve had quite a few classes, and quite a few adventures since then. It was with her that I’ve had many of my first experiences, but that’s clearly a story for another time (get your mind out of the fucking gutter). Not only is she gifted, but she is one of the most sweetest and most humble people I’ve ever met. Becky was there for me through a lot of things during highschool and out in the real world. She was one of the people that understood what I was going through and saw things for what they were really worth. A friendship like that is undeniably sacred and I consider myself quite lucky to call her one of my closest friends.
Coming from a very musical family, she’s always had a reason to sing. Whether it be at family parties or school talent shows, Becky has never failed to put on a good performance. She has a multitude of talent hidden in her beautiful body and a captivating voice as big as her voluptuous hair. And trust me, this girl has big hair. She can play the piano as entrancing as any concerto artist and can tickle a gnarly guitar track. However, the most important part of her musical arsenal is her voice. I’ve had one of the rare opportunities to sing car karaoke with Becky and even when she’s driving a hundred kilometres down the highway, she still easily hits notes as if she’s sitting on her bed, strumming her precious guitar.
She’s done some minor work on a few tracks here or there. The chorus of one song and the harmony of another. Don’t get me wrong, the parts she sang were nothing short of amazing, but it didn’t allow her to fully showcase her abundant skill.
Just like every kid growing up, Becky has always dreamed of becoming famous. Now that she’s finally created a Youtube account, she is one step closer to fulfilling that dream.
The stage is all yours Becky.
Sing.
Are we all radicals, painting our own lines.
Not at all practical, wasting our time.
Always going, never knowing…
we all need to find a dream.
